My First (Handmade) Dress

My First (Handmade) Dress

Ok, so this isn’t the first article of clothing I’ve made. I’ve made two pairs of the Margot PJ bottoms from Love at First Stitch, but I didn’t take photos of them. I’ve made two pairs in a light cotton and I’ve one flannel pair cut out ready to be sewn. So for my first dress, and part of the 2017 Make Nine I made a Bettine Dress. I choose this pattern based on near universal feedback online that this…

Thoughts on 30

Thoughts on 30

I’ve been absent from this blog for a while. There are numerous reasons for this but mainly I’ve been coming home from work and crashing straight into bed as my energy levels have been low of late. While I do have 6 blog posts in draft and I’ve made a few items of clothing I wanted to write this. On the May 23 2017 I turned thirty and for years I’ve imagined what turning thirty would look like. 2017 Make Nine

2017 Make Nine

I’ve been looking for a way to inspire (and keep myself on track) when it comes to sewing my own clothes. The #2017MakeNine was thought up by Rochelle of Lucy Lucielle, in 20016 and is now in it’s second year. It was…

18 Things to remember when everything is awful and you are suicidal

18 Things to remember when everything is awful and you are suicidal

These are things I’ve worked out over many years of truing and painful experience. I hope they help you, and if you don’t I truly hope you find something that will.   You are going through something (depressive period, or anxiety episode or a Monday). It doesn’t matter what you are suffering from, and after many years experience the best way to honour this and your self is to take time and let it happen to you; you can’t run…

The Black Dog

The Black Dog

As you might be aware I suffer from Depression, Anxiety and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, PTSD. Collectovely I refer to this as Neg. Neg lives in my bones, in my mind and is an very present part of my life and self. While she is sometimes kept at bay and I can at times keep her calm; she has once again rearing her pretty head demanding to be heard and making my life hellish. Neg makes me question everything, my self-esteem crumbles…
